In spring 2020, the Rhein-Main-Rohrleitungstransportgesellschaft commissioned AUGEL to replace the DN 600 pipeline under a railway crossing. The measure came about because Deutsche Bahn plans to build an additional track in this section. A particular challenge for us in this construction project was the fact that the work in the railway body was to be completed within a 10-day shutdown period (1 May - 10 May 2020).
For AUGEL and contractors it was therefore 24/7 shift operation!
Within these 10 days, the tracks were dismantled, the pipeline exposed, and cuttings were made. The old, 32 meter long DN 600 pipeline was removed, and a new section was laid and welded. After successful tests using X-rays and ultrasound, the deconstruction work could begin.
Thanks to the exemplary schedule, the work was completed one day ahead of schedule and the tracks were handed over to DB.
WHAT THE CLIENT SAYS
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the AUGEL team and their subcontractors. All of them have contributed to the punctual and accident-free completion of the construction site under the difficult boundary conditions of the German Railway's track possessions closure. The work was excellently prepared and everyone pulled together. No one thought they were too good for weekend, holiday or night work."
